The Economic Cities Authority was established pursuant to Royal Order No. A/19 dated 10/03/1431 AH – 24/02/2010 with the mandate to fully oversee the Kingdom’s economic cities and enable them to achieve their objectives in localizing national capital and attracting foreign investments, as well as the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s developmental plans..

The Authority’s mandate has been amended pursuant to Royal Order No. A/240 dated 1/4/1441 AH – 28/11/2019. The name of the entity has been changed to “Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority” (ECZA), in addition to its previous mandate, ECZA will going forward regulate and supervise the Saudi special economic zones in accordance with the ECZA statute.

To establish investment-attractive, sustainable and globally-competitive Economic Cities and Special Economic Zones via:
  • Devoloping business-friendly regulatory environment and incentives to enable specific strategic business sectors;
